Meet 3 LEGGED THING
3 Legged Thing started from a chicken shed in Stagsden, Bedfordshire, where Danny was working on his own commercial photography studio. His collection of half a dozen tripods used for various purposes inspired him to design something new. After launching two tripods, he immediately set about designing a tripod that would become the benchmark in camera tripod technology.
When Danny founded the brand 3 Legged Thing, it was the beginning of something new. At the time, introducing colour into a tripod was unheard of, so that's what they did. This also immediately set the tone for the brand.
In addition, the team had a goal to innovate tripods and this started with a travel tripod. Traditional travel tripods had a maximum height of 1.80 meters and were not suitable for large cameras with lenses. Danny had a hunch and removed a monopod leg from one prototype and added it to another. The concept of a multi-piece centre column was born. With this in mind, the brand introduced a new travel tripod that could extend more than two meters.
